Getting to the “Root” of the Matter

Duration: 60 minutes

1.0 CE

Basic dentoalveolar oral surgical procedures continue to be part of most general practices.  Whether we do them grudgingly or enjoy these procedures depends upon our level of preparedness.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Techniques for “root recovery”
  • Root tip retrieval
  • Useful armamentarium
  • Ridge Preservation / Socket Grafting

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the attendees should be able to provide proficient basic oral surgical treatment for retained roots and socket grafting for ridge preservation.

OMG! There’s No Bone, Now What?

Steven R. Schwartz, DDS

The lack of adequate bone for the placement of dental implant fixtures has been a concern for dental surgeons since the development of dental implants.  A better understanding of some of the implant bone grafting modalities at our disposal will allow the restorative practitioner to recommend dental implant therapy to their patients with greater confidence.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Alveolar Ridge Deficiency Classification
  • Treatment options for varying ridge defects
  • Useful armamentarium
  • Examples of alveolar ridge reconstruction

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the attendees should have a better understanding of alveolar ridge bone defects and some of the options available at bony ridge reconstruction.
